NCHS Class of 1965 Online Scrapbook
The Scrapbook Editor has scoured the online world (well, actually, it was a Google search) to find photographs of North Central High School and its students, teachers, and activities. Here are some of them.
If you would like to contribute your own photos, please contact the Editor.
Here is the front of the NCHS building as it appeared in the 1965 Northerner yearbook.
These photos show the NCHS building, first the east side of the building while under construction in late winter, and then the west side of the building as it looked when it opened in the fall of 1963.
You may remember that prior to the construction of the school building in 1962-1963, North Central High School was housed in the building that became Northview Junior High School. That building was just to the south of the new building. The NCHS Class of 1965 actually used that older building during our sophomore year.
This photo shows the NCHS faculty from an even earlier year, 1959. Do you recognize any of them? And why aren’t more of these people smiling?
The Scrapbook Editor recognized Mr. John Wendling, who taught German and Russian. He’s in the back row, second from right. He was recognizable partly because he was about 6’9” tall.
We did not have a swimming pool at NCHS during our time there. But, since its completion in 2009, the school has a modern natatorium.
